STRANGE ISN'T IT...

Isn't it strange how a 20 dollar bill seems like such a large amount when you donate it to church, but such a small amount when you go shopping?

Isn't it strange how 2 hours seem so long when you're at church, and how short they seem when you're watching a good movie?

Isn't it strange that you can't find a word to say when you're praying but.. you have no trouble thinking what to talk about with a friend?

Isn't it strange how difficult and boring it is to read one chapter of the Bible but how easy it is to read 100 pages of a popular novel or ZANE GREY book?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants front-row-tickets to concerts or games but they do whatever is possible to sit at the last row in Church?

Isn't it strange how we need to know about an event for Church 2-3 weeks before the day so we can include it in our agenda, but we can adjust it for other events in the last minute?

Isn't it strange how difficult it is to learn a fact about God to share it with others; but how easy it is to learn, understand, extend and repeat gossip?

Isn't it strange how we believe everything that magazines and newspapers say but... we question the words in the Bible?

Isn't it strange how everyone wants a place in heaven but... they don't want to believe, do, or say anything to get there?

Isn't it strange how we send jokes in e-mails and they are forwarded right away but when we are going to send messages about God, we think about it twice before we share it with others?

Isn't it sad!

Wow Meb, very thought provoking, not the least of that being due to how true each of these statements are in one way or another.

I'm know few are true for you though. I'm wondering what your answer to these might be... you would be the best person to discuss that with in my book

Well Meb, I'm at it again. You've been tagged. Come visit A New Yorker in Houston to see what it is. I chose you because I selfishly wanted to know 5 things you did.

As Sydney said, very thought provoking and several are true for me. Thanks for posting this.

Sydney... not true.."few are true for" me. I receive so many spiritual emails because the majority of my other email buddies are from my church in Florida, and that's pretty much what they send. I'm sure when I send some of the other "stuff" (and I'm selective in what I send them), they probably think I've lost my way.

That is the major one I'm guilty of though and that's not sending all the spirtual ones on. I send some, but there are a lot which say "if you love God you'll send this on, if not delete it". That ticks me off, cause God knows I love Him and he doesn't convict me because of something I do or don't do such as forwarding an email.

The 2 hours in the church is one I'm dealing with now, cause my Pastor here doesn't quite hold my interest. I should find another church, but this is the one where we found out we're related (family), and I'm having trouble moving on.

I'm not a good prayer warrior, so I just talk to God. Like I would talk to you or anybody. I can't quote a lot of scripture when it applies to a situation I'm dealing with. My daughter can... if there is a problem, she knows what scripture to quote. But then I'm 20 years older than she is, so that's my excuse...memory.

I like sitting close to the front of the church. Just not the front row but only because the Pastor preaches right there and I have to strain my neck. LOL

I do believe the Bible. While not everything in it is true, it's truely stated.

I love giving to the church. I'm a giver... of anything and everything. Always have been. If I've got it and you need it, I'm giving it!

And I totally believe that if you want a place in heaven then you have to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. No one gets to heaven except thru His Son! And there's really nothing you have to do to get there except to accept Him. It's as simple as that. God makes it so easy for us and we just don't get it!

Good works will not get you into heaven. Good works is great, but you need to be doing it unto the Lord, not for your own edification.

OH MY... I'm preaching again. Well Sydney... you sort of asked how I would answer these.
